While working on the Kashi account at The Barbarian Group, I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to direct two major photo shoots — one 3-day recipe shoot and one week long lifestyle shoot. Art directing shoots like this was a first for me, but they were so much fun. For both shoots I was responsible for providing initial art direction in terms of look and feeling, lighting, composition, etc. The lifestyle shoot required even more upfront planning. I was in charge of writing a detailed shot list for the shoot (outlining all shots, props, wardrobe needs, etc), as well as selecting locations and casting models. On both shoots I worked closely with the photography teams, ensuring that everything (from food styling, to wardrobe and prop selection, to lighting and composition) was just right. It was a ton of work but oh so fun!
